Yum! I've never eaten bratwurst, but the finished product looks good. But is there a less complicated way of cooking them, or is it heresy to even ask? (though I've been wanting a hibachi ... would that work?) What do you dress them with? What else is on the plate?
Oh Mark, that looks great and gets me so fired up. I just got my grill out yesterday and am looking forward to our first BRATS on the grill. We love'em! And I'm amazed at how green your lawn is already! Good cooking!!!
Fonty - My son is three, so he gets a half of one. So five will actually last the family unit two meals. When he's a teen I'm sure five won't be enough for just him.
Bucky - I LOVE grilling season! And, oddly enough, I'm looking forward to mowing the lawn again. Weird.
What, no dessert?

They were SO good! Yummy yum yum!
I think a hibachi would work, but I'm not exactly sure.
As far as being complicated, that's the part I like about grilling over charcoal – the process.
There's nothing I like more in the summer than tending to the grill. It's almost Zen-like in it's relaxing properties.
Anyway, I dress them with ketchup, mustard, onion, etc... Kinda like a hot dog.
I'm sure I'm in the minority there, but I gotta be me.
The Mrs. likes them plain.
As far as side dishes, we had a red/sweet potato salad, and some baked beans.
Droooollll...

Well it all looked delicious and I'll have to give them a try. How old is your son? A package of five brats won't be enough before long!
