It Takes a DivaVillage

OK, so I'm looking over the blog the other day to see if some new cartoon blogs showed up in my sidebar OK, and something caught my eye...

Diva1

See it? OK, here it is...

Diva2

Hard not to notice, and I thought "OK, a blog about cartoons – probably mostly read by guys. A bikini-themed site probably seems a good fit to the Google AdWords algorithm."

So, curious fellow that I am, I clicked on it (forgive me, Google!):

Diva3

Wait just a cotton pickin' second... This looks like a chick site!

OK, get it together, Anderson. Just go check out the swimsuits...

Diva4

Denied!

Ugh, anyway, I thought as long as I was here, I'd see what was what on the other side of the fence.

Diva5

Textured tights? Good lord, I'm glad I'm a man.

Diva6

It's all OK until you get to this...

Diva7

That hardly seems "empowering." Nor did "Finding Mr. Right!"

I took a poll. Care to guess where I came in?

Diva8

I picked "stylish diva," and I'm in the majority! Hooray!

I also liked this:

The words "vision in fuschia" are just intrinsically funny. But I love how it's presented twice; once as the article header with a colon, and then again as the headline with the colon being replaced with "is."

OK, enough picking on the advertiser.

Seriously, AdWords algorithm, what's the deal? Is this site really a good match for my readers?

Let's recap some recent blog post headlines:

Yet Another New Spidey 3 Trailer
God, Meet Me At Camera Three
Andertoons 2.0 - This Time It's PostgreSQL
Sketch Fighter 4000 Alpha
Last Look At Venom
MST3K + Chad Vader = I'm In Heaven
New Heroes Previews
Chicagoland Cartoonist Cabal - 4/4/07

And let's not forget this one...

Last Night's Dinner In 10,000 Words

...a post which consisted almost entirely of pictures of grilled brats.

If women are into Spider-Man, MST3K, various web geekery and brats, I've been sorely misled.

Aw, c'mon! You know deep down in your heart you wanna start a "Mark Anderson in Fuschia" site, ya big softy!

Pantyhose and tights. A whole cartoon category for you!

Maybe combine them into leggings? I dunno if each can sustain its own category... :)
