Saw this at the end of last night's Simpsons, and I can't think of a better way to start the day:

This is so great!
Some more info:
IRON MAN takes on TITANIUM MAN in the classic 1966 Marvel comics cartoon. The feature is barely animated, but it uses panels from real Iron Man stories drawn by Gene Colon and Don Heck. Written by Stan the man Lee, it's the hi-tech Cold War smackdown of the century -- "Fight On, For A World Is Watching!"

...I start getting comments about my 2004 review of Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol.
Not too bad so far:
Just reading these blogs for the first time while looking for the DVD version of Magoo's Christmas. It's my favorite and I'm approaching 58 years old. When young Ebenezer sings "I'm All Alone in the World" it still brings tears to my eyes. Clever lyrics, i.e., "Where are two shoes to click to my clack . . . " Can't beat it. Will always be a favorite of mine, but to each his own. God bless us, everyone!
But soon there'll be more like this:
Anderson you're a pompous fool. Every boomer alive knows this is the best animated Christmas classic ever made. Of course the repeats of "razzleberry" make us cringe, but it sticks in our brains like all genius product marketing jingles. If you don't see the joy here, you grew up too fast. So sad for you. Time to go back to school, relive your childhood like Magoo did, and btw, learn to draw.
Happy Holidays indeed!

Heard a really interesting story on Weekend America this past weekend. Two-time US Poet Laureate, Billy Collins, talks about Looney Tunes' influence on him, and shares some poetry to that effect.
A sample:
Porky
Happy only
when he is gardening alone
far from conversation
and the terrible stammering
far from Petunia, nag and tease
just resting on a hoe
unembarrassed
as he contemplates
the blue background of his flat world --
a Zen pig.

Normally I steer clear of politics here, but this clip about the New Yorker cover from last night's Daily Show is just too good not to post:

Ran across this over at Superhero Hype:
LEGO Group today announced an agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) to secure construction toy rights for the upcoming Speed Racer, the live action feature film adaptation of the classic TV series created by anime pioneer Tatsuo Yoshida.
Under the agreement, LEGO Group will produce four constructible racing playsets under its LEGO Racers brand, scheduled to race onto store shelves in April 2008, and ranging in price from $19.99 to $59.99 USD. Builders and collectors alike will appreciate the inclusion of multiple authentic racers in each set for head-to-head racing and building fun. Many of the Speed Racer characters also will come to life in LEGO minifigure form, including Speed, Racer X, Trixie, Spritle, Chim-Chim, Mom and Pops Racer, Taejo Togokhan, Snake Oiler, Gray Ghost and Cruncher Block.
Never watched Speed Racer growing up, but it's cartoons and Legos, so I'm kinda obligated to blog about it.

Nice little thing about Bugs Bunny yesterday on NPR. It's about six minutes or so and well worth a listen.
Enjoy!

...but the clip below is not that episode. (It does however include the priceless "Maus is in the house!"
You know, I'd really be for Hulu if I could get episodes quicker and play them where and how I want.
Still the video quality is really good and its free...
Anyway, enjoy a recent (not as good as last night's) episode of The Simpsons.
